Second Step: In Second Step we have begun a new unit on Emotion Management. We have learned that when we have strong feelings, it’s hard for our brain to think. The feeling part of the brain can take over and we can lose control of the thinking part of our brain. We learned the following steps to manage strong feelings.
- Stop (use your stop signal such as saying “Calm down”, “Relax” or “Chill out”)
- Name Your Feeling
- Calm Down (for example, Belly Breathing)
Thank you to the PTC for organizing our Understanding Different Abilities program. Second graders participated in four different stations to better understand deafness and hearing loss.
What was your reading goal? How did your group plan to meet the goal? Do you feel that you met your goal?
What is your "stop signal" for when you need to calm down?
What is your favorite magnet experiment you've done so far? What experiment has been the most challenging? How did you work together with your classmates in science?
