Writing: This week we selected our favorite poems to revise and publish. We are so excited to share our work with you at our celebration in a few weeks!
Math: We continued to practice three digit subtraction this week. We have ended this unit with an assessment that will go home next week. For those students who have not quite fully mastered the skill of three digit subtraction, I will continue to review this daily in a small math group.
Social Studies: We wrote about the theme of movement (how people, goods, and ideas travel) as well as the regions on our island. We have finished our brochure writing and will be revising and editing our work next week to get it ready to publish.
Fundations: We practiced the spelling pattern of double vowel words with ou, ew, oo, and ue. Here are some photos of an activity in which we created our own word games:
We had visitors this week from the Learning Center for the Deaf. Fifth graders from the school came to present to us about deaf culture and also taught us some words in sign language. Thank you to the PTC for coordinating this visit!
What could you do to be a good friend if you see someone being excluded?
How do people travel on your island? What is your favorite part of your island?
