Math: We worked on two routines this week- fact practice and problem solving. We used Xtramath and flashcards to study math facts. We learned problem solving steps to carefully think through our work and explain our thinking as we solve math problems.
Science: The rain held off and we were able to get outside for both of our science lessons this week. In the first lesson, we observed five different trees around Newman. On the second day, we went back out to look at those same five trees and determine what are the parts of a tree that all trees have in common.
Second Step: This week we talked about the word “respect”. We discussed what it looks like to be respectful at Newman and how we can show classmates and teachers respect throughout our school day.
Conversation Starters:
What parts do all trees have in common? What are parts of the tree that only some trees have?
What story did you work on in writing this week? What other meaningful stories could you write next week?
