Writing: This week in writing we worked on revising and editing our stories for publishing. We worked with partners to go through a checklist and determine if our stories were ready to be published. We began publishing towards the end of the week and hope to finish up early next week. We can’t wait to share these stories with you at our writing celebration on November 9th!
Math: In math we worked on breaking numbers apart in different ways (decomposing numbers). This important skill will be useful later in the year when we begin working on addition and subtraction of two and three digit numbers. We also began working on the skill of regrouping- or trading 10 ones for a ten or 10 tens for a hundred.
Fundations: We continued to spend a few more days working on the closed exception syllable. An assessment from this unit will go home next week.
Second Step: This week in second step we worked on using the strategy of “self talk” to ignore distractions and focus on the lesson or our work.
Here are some photos from our field trip to the town forest!
