Writing: In our poetry unit we learned a few new kinds of poems. We learned how to write shape poems, which are poems in the shape of the topic that the poem is about. We also began to work on rhyming poems. One type of poem was called a couplet and we also wrote poems with rhyming patterns.
Math: Our math unit on fractions has come to a close. Please be on the look out for those assessments to come home next week. A highlight of the week was getting to play the new math games in our classroom. These games were brought to our classroom through a grant funded by the PTC. The games include: Shut the Box, Make 7, Sumoku, Shap-e-ometry, Sequence Numbers, and Pop. I would highly recommend any of these games.
Second Step: This week we brainstormed how to make amends when we hurt someones feelings. Some ideas we came up with include: write a letter, draw a picture, include them in a game, help them with something.
We also had a great field trip to the food pantry this week!
What does it mean to write a poem with a rhyme pattern?
How can you use longitude and latitude lines to find where something is located?
Other than the food pantry, what is something that the Needham Community Council does to help people in our community?
