Writing: We have started the final part of our writing about reading unit. This part of the unit is nomination writing. The kids chose an award worthy book and wrote a nomination for a particular award for that book. Some examples were “best illustrations”, “most interesting way to tell a story”, “most creative language”, etc...
Math: We began the week by studying combinations to 100. This week we also worked on money. We worked on counting sets of coins, adding amounts of money, and showing money with the fewest amounts of coins.
Social Studies: We finished up our geography collages! Next week we’ll be back to studying science and our topic will be soil.
In preparation for Earth Day, the school is making an Earth Day ABC book. Our class is working on the page for the letter I and chose to create a page on insects. Here is our book page. We can’t wait to see the final product of all of the pages put together in one big ABC book!
What is the rule for finding a combination to 100? What would you add to 28 to make 100? 46? 89?
Tell me about some of the pictures your group included in the geography collage you helped to make. Why did you include those pictures?
