Math: We began taking a closer look at problem solving situations in math. One way we did this was through a “Headline Story” this is an open ended problem that we solve together as a class. All problems have multiple answers and are a great way to discuss using math in real life situations. Additionally we worked on creating our own addition word problems/number stories. We learned how to use a math tool called Versatiles. We’ll be using this tool every Friday during math centers- stay tuned for information about volunteering in the classroom during math on Fridays!
Second Step: In our social curriculum, we focused on the difference between big problems and little problems. Little problems are things that are no big deal, that we need to quickly move past and not feel upset about. Big problems are problems that need adult help to solve.
