Math: In math we’ve been working on breaking apart numbers and making a 10 to make adding easier. We’ve also worked on estimating and counting strategies. When given a large set of objects, we’ve learned that grouping by 2s, 5s, or 10s can make counting more efficient than counting by 1s. Second graders have continued to enjoy making daily math choices.
Fundations: Our first Fundations assessment was sent home this week. Our current unit is on words with bonus letters- ending with f, l, and s. Every Monday second graders make an academic choice to practice the new spelling pattern taught.

How did you set up the experiment to prove the job of the roots? Why did one cup have regular water and one cup have red water?
What is a strategy you can use to ignore distractions during lessons?
