Math: This week was all about place value! We have been working with tens and ones in the form of base 10 blocks to strengthen our understanding of place value. Second graders are working on representing two digit numbers with base 10 blocks as well as identifying the value of a set of given base 10 blocks.
Spelling: We are reviewing concepts taught in first grade for the first several units in the Fundations program. This first unit covers single syllable words with short vowel sounds. Words may contain digraphs (sh, wh, ch, th, ck) or blends (two or three consonants together such as in the word “strap”).
We participated in Dot Day at Newman by visiting the tech center and making our own dotty creations on the computer!
How many tens and ones are in the number 15? 30? 46?
